‘FELICITY URQUHART, Colours that Shine’ - 2022 Archibald entry

Felicity, or Fliss, is a vivacious and charismatic singer/musician and has released a number of acclaimed, roots/country albums. She hosted ABC Radio’s Saturday Night Country for ten years and also appears on the Sydney Weekender TV show.

In 2019, Fliss’ husband, Glen Hannah - a multi-talented guitarist and producer – died tragically; leaving her to carry on alone with their two young daughters.

It was an incredibly dark time for Felicity, but a musical collaboration with Josh Cunningham, from The Waifs, eventually led to a new romantic partnership, too. I wanted my portrait to show Fliss emerging from the shadows, re-capturing joy...and re-connecting with life, love and music.
